The Ditch the Day Job Video Diaries: Oslo Slow Travel Special

Yesterday I posted the third Mountain Shores podcast, recorded in the sunshine on a mountainside in Oslo. If you want to know how we came up with that name and what it means, have a listen! (you can also see all of my photos from the trip).

Meeting up with two of my blogging pals in real life for the first time felt like a pretty momentous occasion, so I also decided to base a special episode of the Ditch the Day Job Video Diaries around the trip, and also to make it public (if you want to see previous episodes, you can subscribe to my free newsletter).

Before we recorded Mountain Shores #3, Michael asked Fabian and I to help record his One Thing Today podcast, which goes out to members of his Sustainably Creative membership every weekday. That podcast forms the basis of the video, with accompanying footage of us eating cakes and exploring Oslo in a leisurely manner.

Many thanks to both Michael and Fabian for giving me permission to share this with you. You will also see a few new friends we made whilst on the trip and at Chris Guillebeau’s ‘Party at the End of the World’.

The Oslo trip also coincided with my having reached the mid-point of my year of clarity – meaning I haven’t drunk alcohol for the past 6 months, have been meditating daily for the past 4 months, and have been running seriously for 3 months in training for my first half-marathon on Sunday.

Whilst I didn’t get the chance to say more than ‘happy birthday’ to Chris himself this time around (that dude is popular), I was grateful to be able to tell his friend JD Roth how much his talk on personal transformation at WDS inspired me to make these gradual, systematic changes to my life. Little did I know that JD and his partner had only just visited Edinburgh before landing in Oslo!

Anyway, the video tells the rest of the story. It’s longer than usual, at just under ten minutes, but there is also less of my ugly mug than normal so everyone’s a winner! Hope you enjoy it, and if you do, please share.
